Summary
In 2009, actor Stephen Fry visited a number of fishing communities in the southern states of the USA, the very communities that were hit by the BP oil spill some months later. Now in Stephen Fry and the Great American Oil Spill, a warm and personal film, along with his environmental partner Mark Cawardine, he goes back to explore the impact of the world's most notorious environmental disaster on the people, the wildlife - and himself. Besides meeting the fishing communities, Stephen and Mark get involved in the conservation effort, meet those responsible for the Herculean task of cleaning this mess up and question what can be done in the future to prevent such a catastrophe from happening again. Their story is one of warmth, humour and hope, in the face of overwhelming odds. Stephen Fry and the Great American Oil Spill is an educational documentary about the effects an oil spill can have on the environment, from BBC Active.
