Abstract
This dissertation describes the biochemical characterization of agents that damage DNA. Compounds of this type can have significant clinical value as chemotherapic agents due to their ability to mediate DNA strand cleavage. A central theme in the Hecht laboratory is to investigate the various interactions between DNA damaging agents and DNA to further understand their mechanisms of action.
