Abstract
Hearing before the Subcom on Water and Power Resources to consider proposals to amend the Reclamation Act of 1902, in light of Federal court orders requiring Department of Interior to enforce reclamation law acreage and related restrictions on farm ownership in federally irrigated areas.
Includes proposals to revise provisions of Federal reclamation laws that restrict acreage of owned or leased farms in federally irrigated areas, remove residency requirements, initiate a system of fees for actual water use, recognize differences in production potential of irrigable lands in determining non-excess acreage under federal reclamation laws, and to require public notice and opportunity for hearing before contracts may be entered into by the Bureau of Reclamation for irrigation.
Also considers miscellaneous bills and resolutions.
