Abstract
Contains transcript of Committee markup session on H.R. 6970, to amend the Marine Mammal Protection Act of 1972 to set limits on the incidental killing of porpoise during commercial tuna fishing operations, to authorize Department of Commerce to adjust the limits under certain circumstances, to place observers aboard tuna fishing vessels, and to require tuna industry to provide a vessel for Department of Commerce research on fishing equipment and methods to lessen porpoise kills. Bill was favorably reported.
