Abstract
For this data collection voters in Democratic and Republican primaries (Parts 9-14, Democratic only) were surveyed as they left their polling places. Respondents were asked which presidential candidate they voted for, the issues and qualities of the candidates that most affected their vote, when they decided the candidate they would vote for, and if someone from their candidate's organization had solicited their vote. Additional items varied by state questionnaire and included respondents' prior participation in primaries, presidential vote choice in 1984, opinions of various candidates and possible party tickets, and approval/disapproval of the Reagan presidency. Demographic information collected includes sex, race, age, religion, education, political party identification, and family income.Cf: http://doi.org/10.3886/ICPSR09140.v1
