Abstract
Flannery O'Connor's "Greenleaf" and the Song of Songs both explore the erotic dimension of God's love. As such, they participate in a mutually enriching relationship. Through Gadamer's hermeneutics of play, and the Song's lyric mode, a richer understanding of that erotic love flourishes. "Greenleaf" and the Song, through exploration of the same underlying question, further illuminate the mystery of what can be termed "God's erotic love."
