Recollections of his early life and interest in Indians; associations with the U. S. Geological Survey, Hemenway Southwest Archaeological Expedition, U. S. Bureau of American Ethnology, Hawikuh excavations and the Museum of the American Indian (Heya Foundation), and the Southwest Museum; growth of anthropology in the U.
