  • "The title page of the catalogue identifies the owner only as 'a lady,' but there were in fact six different consigners, none of whom can be identified as female. The largest number of lots belonged to a certain Capt. Marston, who submitted eleven paintings, mostly of Italian origin. ... He is also given as the author of two paintings depicting the battle of Talavera (1809) offered for sale at the European Museum in November, 1810, where he is said to have belonged to the 48th regiment, and to have painted the pictures on the spot.
