  • Bound in re-backed full calf with the initials "D.H." gilt-tooled at center of front and rear boards.
  • Inscription in ink on front free endpaper verso: "with Sturt's plates -- (scarce) ... Herman Hugo, author of Pia Desideria, was a learned Jesuit born at Brussels in 1588. It was first published in 1632, [?] & upniled[?] by Elzevir in 32mo. -- Hugo died in 1639. Charles borrowed his Emblems from this book & marred them in the borrowing ...".
  • Errors in pagination: pages 16, 98, 99, 102, 103, 106, 107, 110, 111, 209, 212, and 213 are misnumbered as 14, 82, 83, 86, 87, 90, 91, 94, 95, 109, 112, and 113, respectively.
  • Signatures: A B-Q (Leaf A3 mis-signed B3).
