Abstract
Both Arabic literature and Chinese literature began with poetry. The poetry they produced covered every aspect of the life they were living. Love was not absent in either of them. However, as a universally recognized feeling, love was perceived differently. The love Arabs and Chinese pictured in their poems are the mirror of the eras where the literary entities came into being. I will argue that the love in Pre-Islamic poetry is subject to a painful personal journey and thus immersed in a gloomy whereas love in Shijing is encouraged and light.
