Dr. Satcher was director of the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and later became the 16th Surgeon General of the US. The surviving participants of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study with the members of the Tuskegee Syphilis Study Legacy Committee gathered at the White House to witnessed the President's apology on behalf of the United States goverment.
