"The reunion marked the fifteenth anniversary of the deactivation of the hospital, which served overseas in North Africa and Italy. "The reunion program included a cocktail party and buffet dinner at Alumni Hall on Friday, followed by an evening of informal entertainment and the showing of movies taken while while the 8th Evacuation Hospital was in service; informal get-togethers and sightseeing on Saturday, with a cocktail party at Alumni Hall at 5 p.m. and a banquet in Newcomb Hall at 7 p.m.; and a memorial service at Newcomb Hall on Sunday morning, conducted by the Rev. William Laird of St. Louis, Mo., formerly rector of St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Charlottesville, who was chaplain of the 8th Evacuation Hospital...."
