Born, Courtland, Virginia, July 26, 1912. Graduated Courtland High School, 1929. B.S., and M.D. University of Virginia Medical School, 1936. Interne [sic] on internal medicine, University of Rochester, 1936-1937. Intern on general surgery, University of Virginia Hospital, 1937-1938; assistant resident on obstetrics and gynecology, 1938-1942. With Eighth Evacuation Hospital until discharge, March 14, 1946."
