Graduated V.M.I. 1931; M.D. University of Virginia, 1935. Intern and assistant resident on medicine, New York Hospital, New York, 1935-1938. Fellow in cardiology, University of Virginia, 1938-1939. Appointed Assistant Director of Student Health Department, instructor in medicine at the University of Virginia, private practice in the city of Charlottesville, 1939-1942. With the Eight Evacuation Hospital, as assistant chief of medicine, and later chief of the medical service, 1942 until his discharge, January 1946."
