Summary
publicity photographs; from excerpt on photo: Dumas Malone, Columbia University history professor, showed the first copy of his biography of Thomas Jefferson, entitled Jefferson, The Virginian, to three distinguished librarians, left to right, William Warner Bishop, librarian emeritus of the University of Michigan, Harry Clemons, librarian of the University of Virginia, and Julian P. Boyd, librarian of Princeton University. This picture was taken in the Alderman Library of the University of Virginia. Dr. Malone, who still hold the title of consultant in biography at the University of Virginia, dedicated this first volume of his four-volume life of Jefferson to the University of Virginia where he did much of the writing of his book.
