Lankford, second-year man from Farmville, VA, and Richard A. Jesser, third-year student from Waynesboro, VA. McShane, professor and acting chairman of the University mathematics department, is also president elect of the American Mathematics Society and former president of the Mathematical Association of America. Lankford is the son of a former University of Virginia professor, now president of Longwood College in Farmville.
