  • Edited by Thomas Abbay, who initials the introduction to part 1 and signs that to part 2.
  • The map has title "Virginia" and is signed "grauen by William Hole 1606". For the various states see Sabin 82832, 82823, and Church entry 359.
  • The second part has a special title page: The proceedings of the English colonie in Virginia since their first beginning from England in the yeare of Our Lord 1606 till this present 1612 ... by W.S. [i.e. William Symonds]. Oxford, 1612.
  • Variant: with an additional leaf of dedication to (1) the Earl of Hereford by Smith, or (2) to T. Watson and J. Bingley by "Philip Fote" (possibly a pun on the heading "To the hand" on *2r in all copies).
  • Folding map of Virginia, with inscription, on the scroll at the top: "Virginia", and at bottom: "Discouered and discribed by Captayn John Smith / Grauen by William Hole 1606." Figure of a savage in the upper right hand corner; in the upper right-hand corner, with inscription underneath: "Powhatan held this state & fashion when Capt. Smith was deliuered to him prisoner 1607."
  • Signatures: *⁴ A-E⁴, ²A-O⁴ P² (²P2 blank).
  • Indian vocabulary: p. [5-7], 1st group of paging.
  • Initials, tail-pieces and printed marginalia.

Church catalogue entry 359. Map mounted on a window mat board with see-through mylar plastic strip, housed in a navy blue cloth covered clamshell box. Cover title: John Smith Virginia 1606. (NOTE: THE MAP HAS BEEN REMOVED FROM THE VOLUME AND IS HOUSED SEPARATELY AS A FLAT FOLIO)
