Summary
Xerxes, the king of Persia, is in love with Romilda, as is his brother Arsamenes. Romilda, though, is in love with Arsamenes as is her sister Atalanta. Xerxes banishes his brother Arsamenes from the court to have Romilda to himself, while Arsamenes' attempt to get a love letter to Romilda fails when her sister Atalanta intercepts the letter and deceives Romilda.
